Meet Emily Shipley LGPC

I believe therapy works best when clients feel safe, accepted, and able to move at a pace that feels right for them. My approach is warm, supportive, and grounded in helping each client feel understood as they begin to explore what they are feeling, what they need, and what may help them move forward.

I work with children, teens, young adults, and adults who may be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure how to express what they are going through. Whether we are using conversation, play, creativity, coping tools, or reflection, my goal is to create a space where clients feel supported, respected, and less alone.

Grounded Support. Meaningful Change.

My Focus Areas!

How Therapy With Me Feels

Therapy with me feels warm, collaborative, and supportive. I understand that starting therapy can feel uncomfortable, especially for anyone who is not sure what to say at first. I do not expect clients to have everything figured out before they begin.

My goal is to create a space where clients can feel comfortable showing up as they are. For some clients, that may mean talking through what is happening. For others, especially younger clients, it may mean using play, creativity, or small moments of connection to begin expressing what feels hard to put into words.

I work to meet each client where they are. We may focus on coping skills, emotional expression, self-understanding, communication, or navigating a difficult season of change. Throughout the process, I aim to provide a steady, compassionate space where clients feel heard, supported, and encouraged.

Approaches I May Use

I use a supportive and client-centered approach, choosing interventions based on each client’s age, needs, goals, and comfort level.

Professional Experiences That
Shape My Work

My work is shaped by the belief that clients do not always need to have the perfect words in order to be understood. Children may communicate through play, behavior, creativity, or emotion. Teens may need time before they feel ready to open up. Adults may come to therapy feeling unsure, overwhelmed, or disconnected from themselves. Because of this, I approach therapy with patience, curiosity, and respect for each client’s process. I believe therapy should feel like a space where clients can slow down, feel heard, and begin making sense of what they are experiencing without pressure or judgment. Whether I am working with a child, teen, young adult, or adult, my goal is to help clients feel supported as they build insight, coping skills, confidence, and a stronger connection to themselves.
