About Jessica Bangel
I am a Licensed Master Social Worker in the State of Maryland. Therapy can be hard and uncomfortable for a lot of people. My aim is to connect with clients by meeting them exactly where they are, and to offer an open and judgment-free space to explore some of the most difficult questions and circumstances life has to offer.
All aspects of a person’s life are relevant to the therapeutic process, so it is important for me to get to know my clients beyond what brought them to therapy: culture, work history, family and relationships, values, and any additional relevant history.
I believe the therapeutic process starts with active and empathetic listening to unearth the circumstances that lead individuals to seek positive changes in their lives. Clients are the experts in their own lives and have within them the strengths and skills necessary to achieve the changes they are seeking.
My role is to provide clients with a professional, open, safe, and non-judgmental space to collaborate on goals, explore resources and values that can benefit the therapeutic journey, challenge beliefs that are irrational or create hardships, and engage in evidence-based processes that best address the needs of the clients.
My graduate specialization was centered on social work in the workplace, so I have a deep understanding of workplace trauma to include, but not limited to, bullying, harassment, and work performance issues. As an active-duty veteran and current member of the Maryland Air National Guard, I have a passion for serving veterans, active-duty personnel, military reservists, Guardsmen, first responders, and their families.
